On the giants' shoulders

By cab we drive together to Brandberg and further up to the starting point of our panoramic tour. We hike along the forest path up to the Kolmhaus, where the local mountain of Brandberg - the majestic Brandberger Kolm (2,700 m) comes into our field of vision. The tour now leads on the shoulders of the giant through Krummholz and over lush alpine grass. We pass the picturesque Heimjöchl, from where overwhelming views also of the mountain scenery of the Gerlos Valley await us. After a stop for refreshments at the Gerlossteinalm, we take the mountain railroad down to the valley and return to Mayrhofen by bus.

Character: demanding, difficult hike (950 hm ascent, approx. 850 hm descent, 10 km).

Duration: approx. 8 hrs.; of which 6 hrs. are pure walking time
